As described ICROFS' general provisions, the International Board have duties including:
Developing and evaluating the centre's vision and strategy on the basis of analyses of Danish and international developments and needs in organic food systems.
Specifying the objectives for the organic research in dialogue with the Danish Advisory Committee for Food Research and the Danish Advisory Board on Organic Food and Agriculture.
Working actively to support the realization of the centre's strategy through the establishment of national and international contacts between the Centre and relevant partners, funding bodies and users.
Approving working programme, budget and accounts relating to the activities of the centre management and the sentre secretariat in accordance with the economic and administrative framework agreed with the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences/ University of Aarhus (DJF/AU)
Issuing recommendations on new national research projects and programmes, as well as on contin-ued funding and/or adjustment of existing research programmes to the Danish Advisory Committee for Food Research on the basis of recommendations from the Programme Committee.
Issuing recommendations on ICROFS's participation in major national and international projects.
Providing coordination of the centre's activities with other relevant research activities through dialogue with the Danish Advisory Board on Organic Food and Agriculture and the Danish Advisory Committee for Food Research
Exercising authority to appoint technical committees.
Organic Eprints
Since 2002, the Centre has developed and open-access archive for research papers in organic agriculture, Organic Eprints. And in 2003, the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture, FiBL, joined the project as an international partner. Organic Eprints has more than 4,000 visits a day (www.orgprints.org).
European cooperation
ICROFS coordinates European trans-national research concerned with organic food and farming systems under the headline of Core Organic. Moreover, ICROFS is actively involved in a European research project on improving the organic certification system
