Objective
The objective of OrgTrace is to study the impacts of different organic and conventional agricultural systems on the ability of plants to assimilate minerals and synthesise bioactive chemical components with putative health promoting effects in humans

Preliminary results
OrgTrace is the first research project to cover all the relevant steps in plant production from soil to human health.

In a two-year field experiment, a large number of crops and vegetables are produced on four different geographical locations in Denmark, using one conventional and two organic growing schemes. The plants are being analysed for a very large suite of chemical compounds and diets are being prepared for a human intervention study and a rat experiment aiming at studying parameters such as: bioavailability of bioactive components, health and well-being.

OrgTrace ends ultimo 2010 and the first preliminary results are expected in the beginning of 2010.
